Soldier Pen Pals
Pen Pals for Soldiers - Real Life Message in a Bottle
Ever thought of dating a soldier? Of course you have! Those uniforms can make anyone swoon. More importantly though, soldiers are the heroes that keep us safe and that in and of itself gets most hearts beating just a little bit faster. (And of course: soldiers are fit, which might make a few hearts race too…)
Whilst dating a soldier can seem glamorous in that you are dating a hero, most people know that there’s a different side to it as well.
Soldiers have hectic schedules. They have to go away to training camps and sometimes war. To them receiving letters, texts and emails is often the only form of communication they are allowed. Being a pen pal for soldiers means you can really add something to their life whilst they’re abroad, fighting for yours.
To become a penpal to a soldier you first have to meet them though. And that’s one of the reasons UniformDating exists - to make it easier for people in jobs that require you wear a uniform (read: demanding, service related professions) to meet each other. If already traveling, it helps you write to soldiers overseas, so you can schedule a date when they get back. In fact, you may end up being the penpal to a soldier before meeting him or her, but chances are you touch base with a few messages and then meet up when they come home.
Writing to a Solider - the First Message
If you are contemplating writing to a soldier whose profile you’ve found on UniformDating, it’s much the same as contacting anyone else. The only thing you need to bear in mind when writing to soldiers is that they may not reply straight away if they are away on training, or overseas.
So what to say in a first message when you write to a soldier? The same you’d say to anyone else; you let them know their profile sparked your interest and you bring up something you have in common, or that you are curious about, which gives them something to reply to. For example:
I just came across your profile and it made me curious to find out more!
Seems like you’ve been all over the world - what was your favorite place? I love to travel and so far I found Cinque Terre in Italy to be the most stunning experience. The food, the architecture, the people…I had such a great time!
I’d love to learn more about you, so shoot me a message if you feel like it.
Have a great weekend.
So you see, to write letters to soldiers isn’t that hard, is it?
Writing Letters to Soldiers Overseas
Once you’ve met your man or woman in uniform there will come a day when it’s time for them to head overseas, or to a training camp. So what will it be like to have them gone for weeks, maybe months?
No doubt it can be a challenge being away from each other, but you can also see it as an opportunity to get to know each other better. Sure, you can’t go to dinner together, but you can be penpals. To write a letter to a soldier can actually bring out a new side of you; it’s only too easy to have dinner or watch movies in silence. When you write you are forced to express yourself. And we all know that a letter about the weather might not be the most interesting one to receive. The man or woman you’re dating will want to know about you; your thoughts and feelings. And of course, they want to know what you love about them and how much you miss them.
And remember that letters to soldiers overseas means the world to them. You are their hope; the reason they’re fighting and who they wish to come home to.
